Occasionally there can be some residue left on the item from the plating process - usually a sort of a blackish film or mark - this can be cleaned off using a damp non-stick scouring pad or cloth - please don't try to use cream cleaner or polish or it will attack the finish and you'll get the copper base metal showing through
